WHEN YOU BELIEVE

So I was looking for something on Youtube. I actually dont remember where I started. But a click became two, and then four. Some how I ended up on a page linking to Britain's Got Talent. Its a Simon Cowell Show that America has now cloned.

While there, I saw this goof of a fellow...getting ready to sing. Of course I love to watch train wrecks. You know the disaster zone that occurs when people have been lied to and told by family and friends they can sing... yea, you know.

So I click through and endure the 30 sec bumper package before it starts. I've got the popcorn ready for a magnificant meltdown...and then I heard it. He sang.

When he was done I realized I had been suckered for the sappiest of moments. His performance is what makes Hollywood movies great. His melody has been the inspiration for chapters in a chicken soup for the soul type book. He can sing.

With passion and purpose, confidence and courage, he stepped to the mic with a gleam in his eyes. Knowing the external is second to the internal his soul sang.

I wondered about his story. Sure, a few probably said he could sing. But along the way thousands probably whispered the death sentence, 'You are never going to make it!'

On this night, critics were silenced.

With a fresh perspective, press play again. Even if you despise the music style, something connects with your soul. Passion for passion. Close your eyes and let the irish tenor soothe your soul...again.

Cynical enough to believe.
